Give to support DTSB's outreach to our unsheltered neighbors

Every week our Outreach Ambassador, Chris Anderson, is meeting unsheltered neighbors where they are - on the streets and in alleys - to connect them with life-changing and life-saving resources. Chris has spent years building trust with people experiencing chronic homelessness, mental illness, and addiction. He is down-to-earth, empathetic, and most importantly, he is persistent. He doesn't give up on people and because of the severity of untreated mental illness, trauma, or addiction it's not uncommon for him to work with people to build trust over many weeks or months to get them the help they need.

Downtown South Bend, Inc. has been a leader in best practice when it comes addressing the needs of the unsheltered. Chris brings resources to people in crisis where they are, to help them access housing, food, mental health services, and employment. Downtown South Bend, Inc. has helped reconnect people with their families and recently provided transportation support to several individuals - one to be closer to family and services best suited to his mental health needs and the other to get work in Michigan where they are a licensed nurse.

Every year we need to raise $30,000 to maintain this vital outreach position. Please help us meet our goal so that we can continue to provide life-changing connections to our most vulnerable neighbors.
